Mr Tony McNicol MITI

I am a Japanese/English bilingual copywriter and marketing translator. My areas of expertise are tourism, hospitality sustainability and media.

In 2013 I co-founded WeDoJapan with my wife, Yoshie Harimoto. We provide copywriting, marketing translation, transcreation and content marketing services to many different companies, agencies, publishers and media organizations, mainly in the UK and Japan.

My current work includes translating and rewriting articles for J-Stories, a bilingual website that focuses on sustainability and hi-tech solutions.

I have translated several books including This Monk Wears Heels: Be Who You Are by Kodo Nishimura (Watkins Publishing, 2022) and Shinrin-yoku The Japanese Way of Forest Bathing for Health and Relaxation by Yoshifumi Miyazaki (Octopus, 2018).

I have also provided translation support for a number of documentaries, including Predator, the BBC’s expose of the Johnny Kitagawa J-Pop scandal and The Contestant, a documentary on a notorious 1990s Japanese reality show.
