Mrs Maria Luisa Barbano MITI
I have been a medical-scientific translator since 1997. My career as a translator took off as I was still writing my dissertation in Modern Languages at the University of Turin. Working with local translation agencies, I learnt the tools and tricks of the trade and how to manage translation projects from start to finish: from creating terminology glossaries through to quality assurance. In 2013, I undertook a master’s degree in medical and pharmacology translation.
Today, I work with pharma companies, CROs, medical device manufacturers, and scientific publishers, providing English to Italian translations of:
- Clinical trials and research documentation (protocols, informed consent forms, patient surveys, etc.)
- User manuals for medical devices, diagnostic tools and laboratory equipment
- Pharmacovigilance and drug-related materials (packaging, labelling, PILs, SmPCs, etc.)
- Scientific articles, medicine books.
I believe that a good translator never stops learning and that it is important to always make time for clients’ feedback, peer reviews, and CPD.
The added value I love providing to my clients is peace of mind when entrusting their important materials to an expert and informed translator who can help them thrive in a fast-changing regulatory and commercial scenario.
