I offer Swedish and French to English translation and work in a wide range of fields. My educational background is in archaeology/history and during my career I have worked extensively with personal development texts, but I've also translated cookery books, technical specifications for bridges and tunnels, factual articles about potato starch, urban agriculture, mushroom-based packaging... In fact I translate almost everything but legal, financial and medical texts (because I'm simply not interested in those subjects!).

Shouldn't I specialise in a few areas? Well... no! Regardless of whether I'm working on a set of course materials reflecting the changes in hot work legislation or a text marketing your new construction project, I'm the lens through which your readers see your words. If I struggle to understand what you're saying, they probably will too. And once I've got it straight in my head, I turn it into clear, relevant English.

I also provide proofreading and editing services (I am an Intermediate Member of the Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading), particularly for texts written in English by second language speakers, together with English transcription and subtitling.

As the Helpful Translator, I'll help you bring out the best from your words and render them in clear, fluid English. I'll help you see where a text might not work for an anglophone audience, and what you can tweak to tailor it. I'll help you bring your website or novel into order. I'm there for you to bounce marketing ideas off. I'll often pick out the typos in your Swedish or French text too, while I'm at it!
