You've qualified as an MITI. So what now?

ITI's Membership Manager, Jacqui Flint, outlines some of the steps you could take once you've qualified as an MITI to maximise the benefit.

Whether you have upgraded or just joined ITI, becoming an MITI is an exciting time. You will have worked hard over a number of years to hone your knowledge and skills through qualifications and experience and will have passed the rigorous ITI assessment. Now is the time to enjoy the professional recognition that comes with being part of the elite group of MITI members that are internationally recognised as being the best in the business.

So what do you need to do now to promote yourself and your new MITI status? Here are a few suggestions to do in the first few weeks to make the most of this moment and to ensure your investment serves to drive your business forward.

Announce your achievement

Now is not the time to be shy! You have achieved a great thing so make sure everyone - peers and clients - knows it. Announce your MITI membership on social media, particularly on LinkedIn (and remember to tag us in). Download your logo from My ITI to use as the eye-catching picture and add some bullet points about your business and specialisms. Don’t forget to add your post nominals to your name field so they appear in searches and at the top of your profile.

Let your clients know

Email or better still, telephone your clients to tell them the good news so they can update their records. This is a great reason to get in touch which will help to build your relationship with them further. Don’t forget to send them your updated CV and a link to the Choose MITI video so they understand the value of being an MITI. And don’t be afraid to let them know that you are putting up your rates to reflect your newly recognised skills and experience.

Complete your ITI Directory profile

Now you are an MITI your profile will appear on the ITI Directory. With over 6,000 searches on the Directory a month it is an excellent source of new business for many of our members. Make sure your profile is complete so that it presents you in your best light. People like to know who they will be working with so ensure you upload a photo and that you include a link to your website.

Update your email signature

Include your MITI logo and post nominals in your email signature, or download the MITI email banner from My ITI and hyperlink the banner to your ITI Directory profile page.

Stay visible

Regularly posting on LinkedIn is an increasingly important way to promote yourself to the business community but it can be difficult to think of new content ideas. Why not download the ‘Choose MITI’ infographics from My ITI and use them as your starting point to create a series of posts promoting your work.
