Some experience of working with scientific texts is useful, but beginners are also welcome. You may have attended Claire's previous Scientific Writing course but that is not essential. The course will be particularly useful for editors and translators who work on research articles, but the principles can also be applied to other texts.

Dr. Claire Bacon is a scientific language consultant based in Germany. She studied biochemistry at the University of Wales, Aberystwyth before completing her master’s in biology at the AO Research Institute in Davos, Switzerland, and her PhD in neuroscience at the University of York, England. Claire worked for 10 years as a research scientist in Heidelberg, Germany before leaving academia to set up her own editing business. She is passionate about clear and effective communication in science and writes a blog to help scientists write readable papers. She works as a scientific language editor for multilingual authors and a trainer in scientific writing for PhD students.
