Rekindle your love of languages and cultural differences with this fun, hands-on short course for FR>EN and EN>FR translators at all levels with Joachim Lépine! Travel back in time to 1958, where you'll be acquainted with the founders of comparative stylistics, and dive into many translation concepts that are even more relevant today than they were when they were forged some 65 years ago.
The course will cover the classic comparative stylistics concepts, from direct and oblique translation procedures to abstract/concrete expression, substances and actions, and more. For each concept, you'll be presented with brief modern-day exercises in both languages so you can put your skills to the test.
Based on real-life exercises, Joachim will examine the evolution of both languages since 1958 and establish which fundamentals continue to apply.
Get ready for a captivating journey in time... and prepare to bring back useful tools to improve your translations in the present and future.
