Working with translation agencies

This webinar will be run by Clare Suttie and will consist of a presentation on working with translation agencies with time for Q&A.

The presentation will be an introduction for translators who would like to begin approaching agencies, Clare will cover all your niggling questions:

  • Working with a translation agency - why would I do this?
  • What are the pros and cons of working with a translation agency?
  • What are translation agencies looking for in a translator?
  • What are minimum requirements for translators when applying to work with a translation agency?
  • How do I identify which translation agencies to apply to?
  • How do I assess if a translation agency is one of the "good guys"?
  • How do I apply to work with a translation agency, and how do I stand out from all the other applications they receive?
  • How do I work out my rates?
  • How do I increase my chances of becoming a regular translator for an agency?
  • Can I ever have a holiday or will the agency forget about me forever?

The presentation will be in English. The main aim is to provide assistance to anyone who is relatively new to the profession, although it will also be useful for those members who would like to change direction in their career, or add in another potential source of income! The zoom link will be sent to registered participants in the week before the event.
