Help us to fine tune the new draft of ITI's Code of Conduct and shape the accompanying guidance.

Carrying out periodic reviews of a professional body’s code of conduct is an important element of good governance. With this in mind, in the spring of 2024, ITI’s Board initiated a review of our Code of Professional Conduct (henceforth to be known as the Code of Conduct), and the process for responding to potential breaches.

It quickly became clear that a lot has changed since the code was last updated, not least technology, and so we concluded that it would be wise to start afresh with a blank sheet. So over the summer we convened a small working group to take part in a couple of roundtables and their ideas were used to inform an initial draft of the new code . We then moved on to consider the guidance that might be needed to help ITI members to use the new Code of Conduct in practice.

We would now like to give a wider group of members the opportunity to discuss the draft Code of Conduct (which we will share towards the end of December) with a view to fine-tuning the version that will be presented to members for approval at the ITI’s AGM in 2025.

So, join us at this Coffee House session to hear more about the process of creating a new Code of Conduct that aims to better support professional translators and interpreters, and help us to shape the accompanying guidance.
