Angéline Bottier

Angéline Bottier is a conference interpreter working with French, English and Spanish, based in France. In 2021, she joined Amnesty International’s Interpretation and Multilingual Engagement Unit which organises multilingual meetings and provides interpretation services for the movement worldwide.

Antonia Coleman

Antonia is presenting the session Working as a conference interpreter for international institutions.

Antonia Coleman works as a conference interpreter for the European Parliament and as a public service interpreter in the UK. She teaches interpreting at the universities of Bath and Westminster. Her interpreting languages are: English A/French C/Italian C, and she also translates from German to English.

Brooke Townsley

Brooke Townsley has 27-years’ experience of public service interpreting and translation and teaching interpreting and translation at undergraduate and post-graduate level. He has coordinated three European Union funded research projects into legal interpretation and translation, (Building Mutual Trust 1, Building Mutual Trust 2 (www.buildingmutualtrust.com) and Understanding Justice (www.understandingjusticeproject.com), and was a partner in the Qualitas Project (https://qualitas.old.ogpi.ua.es), on training and accreditation for Legal Interpreting and Translation in the EU.

A member of the Council of the Chartered Institute of Linguists (CIOL) and vice-chair of Council (2009-2011), and chair of the National Register of Public Service Interpreters (NRPSI) (2006-2011), he played a key role in the creation of the NRPSI in its current form. He is also a Fellow of the CIOL, a board member of the European Network for Public Service Interpreting and Translation (ENPSIT) and a member of the International Community Translation Research Group (ICTRG).

Cari Bottois

Cari Bottois is a co-founding member of Charity Translators, a volunteer community that supports languages in the charity sector. Alongside a career across the private, public, and charity sectors, she also pursued an MA in Translation Studies at the University of Exeter and is now researching Languages in the Charity Sector at Cardiff University, funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) via the South, West and Wales Doctoral Training Partnership (SWWDTP).

Cecilia Lipovsek AITI

Cecilia is presenting the session Working as a diplomatic interpreter.

Cecilia Lipovsek is a London-based diplomatic interpreter and owner of MULTILATERAL, where she provides international communication support to British and Latin American governments, businesses, and professionals.

Born in Buenos Aires, Cecilia has lived and worked on both sides of the Atlantic and, over the last decade, has interpreted for heads of state, ministers, governors, CEO’s, activists, writers, royalty, Nobel Prize winners, museum curators, and countless experts.

Cecilia has also published JUMP!, a business book created for interpreters, WELCOME!, a practical guide to diplomatic interpreting in the 21st century, and SMILE!, a five-dimensional approach to British-LatAm interactions.

Chang Su

Chang is presenting the session Remote conference interpreting.

Chang Su is a professional conference interpreter in Chinese, English and Spanish who started his interpreting career under remote settings during the pandemics. His first ever simultaneous interpreting assignment was through an RSI platform and has since gained extensive experiences for remote conferences.

Other than interpreting remotely, he has also been to some of the most remote places on earth for interpretation assignments, such as the Arctic and Antarctica. ‘From remote interpreting to interpreting remotely’ has been a great part of his career journey. He has serviced clients like UN organizations and multinational corporations such as Microsoft, Bill Ackman, Ferrari, Pfizer, etc.

Fiona Gray MITI

Fiona is presenting the session Ways of working: freelance, in-house, generalist or specialist work.

Fiona Gray MITI helps brands and businesses based in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Luxembourg to find their voice in English through creative copy and compelling content that makes their German words travel. She has over a decade of experience in the translation industry and has been freelancing for the past eight years. Fiona sits on the ITI Board of Directors in one of the two Vice-Chair positions and is the Coordinator of the ITI East Anglia Network. She runs her own Business Buddy Mentoring scheme for creative German to English translation and won the ITI Mentor of the Year Award in 2023

Gabriella Ferrante

Gabriella is presenting the session Localisation.

Gabriella is a Translator, Subtitler and Translation Project Manager based in London with many years of experience and a sound professional background in the localisation industry. She is an Italian native speaker who also speaks English, Spanish and French. She calls herself ‘The language barrier breaker’ and she is a language enthusiast who loves playing with words - according to her the magic behind a word or an expression that ‘clicks’ is the best feeling of all.

James Whitmore

James Whitmore is a Freelance Translator, Subtitler, and Public Service Interpreter working from French into English. He graduated from the University of Kent with a degree in French and History in 2018 and earned his Masters in Specialised Translation and Interpreting from the University of Westminster in 2019.

A versatile linguist with a malleable set of skills, he specialises in medical translation and interpreting and is based in South London. He has previously spoken at other events for the ITI, including Meet the Client."

John Evans

John is presenting the session Working as a translator for the EU institutions.

John Evans is a staff translator with the Directorate-General for Translation – the translation service of the European Commission – working from French, Spanish, Portuguese, Polish, Lithuanian and Latvian. John has a BA (Hons) in French and Spanish from Cardiff University (1998) and a Postgraduate Diploma in Translating and Interpreting from Bath University (2000). Before joining the European Commission in 2005 he worked as a linguist in the UK civil service and as a staff translator for a United Nations agency in Switzerland.

Kristijan Nikolic

Kristijan is presenting the session Working as a subtitler.

Kristijan has a university degree in English from Zagreb University, where he has worked since 2001. In 2012, he took a PhD in translation at the University of Vienna. He has been an Honorary Research Associate at the Centre for Translation Studies, University College London since 2016. Kristijan has provided talks at various universities and conferences, and was the main organiser of the Media for All 5 conference. Kristijan's main research interests are interlingual subtitling and audiovisual translators’ working conditions. At Westminster, he teaches Audiovisual Translation and Localisation to MA students of translation.

Rik Grant

Rik is presenting the session Transcreation.

With more than 15 years in the industry, Rik possesses an in-depth understanding of the machinery of global advertising, adaptation, amplification & strategy for the world’s biggest brands. After graduating with a degree in Japanese he first cut his teeth in a specialist Asian-language translation agency before moving to the Tag group in 2011. Since then he has expanded his knowledge of cross-media production and creative strategy and works to help brands realise their full potential, irrespective of linguistic or cultural boundaries. Rik has worked across every media discipline and sector with clients including Facebook, P&G, Amazon, Reckitt Benckiser, Adyen, Arla Foods, Coca-Cola, DHL, Heineken and Toyota. In his spare time, Rik is an avid street photographer, guitarist, Iaido practitioner and PowerPoint guru.
