The Russian Network would like to invite all members of the Network and anyone else who is interested to another free online session, to be held on Friday 28 February.

RussNet’s lively conversation meet-ups are back, this time with a particularly fascinating topic!

Please join the Network’s regular host, Natalia Karlina, who invites you to…

talk Russian superstitions and beliefs, exploring...

  • mysterious Russian superstitions – from knocking on wood to avoiding black cats
  • curious beliefs about luck and misfortune – why you shouldn’t whistle indoors or shake hands over a threshold
  • the origins of these traditions, and how they shape modern Russian culture.

Dive into the unique world of Russian folklore, omens, and customs — and see which ones exist in other cultures, too! Whether you’re superstitious or just intrigued, this is a great chance to connect, learn, and share stories.

Conversation will be entirely in Russian, so it would be great if you can speak Russian to a relatively good level. However, the atmosphere will be relaxed, so speakers of any level are welcome: this is a space to encourage people to speak and overcome the feaR.

If you are interested, please email Natalia so that she can send you the joining link a couple of days before the event.

Bring your curiosity (and maybe a lucky charm…) and join the discussion!
