The Russian Network would like to invite all members of the Network and anyone else who is interested to another free online meet-up, to be held on Friday 28 March.

In the run-up to the next RussNet Book Club, this conversation session will be devoted to the theme of countryside…

Please join the Network’s regular host, Natalia Karlina, who invites you to:

  • Explore the beauty of the landscape across different countries
  • Discuss what life is like in the countryside: traditions, daily routines and relationship to nature
  • Consider how villages and rural areas differ in architecture, lifestyle, and community spirit
  • Tell the group where you prefer to live and why – countryside or city
  • Reflect on unique cultural aspects, from Russian dachas to British cottages and farms around the world
  • Look forward to April’s discussion of stories that powerfully depict life in the Russian countryside in the mid-20th century.

Conversation will be entirely in Russian, so it would be great if you can speak Russian to a relatively good level. However, the atmosphere will be relaxed, so speakers of any level are welcome: this is a space to encourage people to speak and overcome the fear…

If you are interested, please email Natalia so that she can send you the joining link a couple of days before the event.

This engaging, fun session will offer a great opportunity to practice your Russian, share personal experiences, and expand your vocabulary on nature, rural life, and cultural comparisons.
