The Russian Network would like to invite all members of the Network and anyone else who is interested to another free online session on Friday 15 November.
Following a successful start to the Autumn social season with fun on the Day of Knowledge and the excitement of inaugurating the RussNet Book Club, the Russian Network’s popular conversation meet-ups are back!
With host Natalia Karlina, who will make sure everyone has an opportunity to take part, it’s time to indulge your child within – by enjoying a Soviet animation in Russian (around 15-20 minutes), followed by informal chat.
Why an animation? Kids grow up watching cartoons and learning the language from them. Adults rewatch them because they bring back warm childhood memories…
Soviet cartoons contain a cultural code (words, phrases, actors’ voices, etc.) that is shared by people in Russia and other CIS countries. Therefore they are an invaluable source for interpreters and translators, helping us recognise different cultural nuances and jokes – really worth exploring!
Conversation will be entirely in Russian, so it would be great if you can speak Russian to a relatively good level. However, the atmosphere will be relaxed, so speakers of any level are welcome: this is a space to encourage people to speak and overcome the fear…
Reserve the date for some fun!
If you are interested, please email Natalia so that she can send you the joining link and some information a couple of days before the event.
