Our speaker Marina González is highly experienced in this subject area and will talk about translating for UK Government agencies, using her working languages French, English and Spanish. She will cover a range of aspects:
- What does the day-to-day work look like?
- What are the main tasks?
- What sort of documents are translated?
- How can translators enter this sector?
- What effect is AI having on this sector?
The 45-minute presentation will be followed by questions, and tips and advice for prospective translators in this sector.
Marina is a professional translator and interpreter currently working in the Civil Service, specifically in Law Enforcement. Born and raised in Tenerife, she completed her studies at Las Palmas University in 2017 and went on to do her Master’s Degree at Heriot-Watt University in 2018. After living in different countries and obtaining a few extra qualifications, including the Diploma in Public Service Interpreting, Marina got her first job in 2019 as an in-house translator in a private agency. After a few years working in-house, she became a freelancer in 2021. In 2024, she landed her current job and now helps victims of crime, translating different types of documents related to this field.
